"Outhouse 300"
OFFICIAL RACE RULES
|
The first rule of
consideration is SAFETY for the racers and for the public. Use good
common sense based on safety in all . . . construction of outhouse,
in dress, and in racing.
|
|
|
STRUCTURE:
|
(1)
|
Outhouses are to have 4 walls, a roof, a doorway, and a seat with
at least one (1) hole. It may also have a door, but the door must be
secured open during the race. No weight requirement.
|
(2)
|
Outhouse must be a minimum of nine (9) square feet at its base,
and a maximum overall width not to exceed six (6) feet (including
grasping and/or pushing devices). A minimum height of five (5) feet
from the floor to the highest point of the roof.
|
(3)
|
Any number and size of wheels may be used.
|
(4)
|
Any device for grasping (to move) the outhouse may be used
except ropes (or like materials/devices). All grasping devices
must be secured solid.
|
(5)
|
Outhouse may be built of any solid material, and structurally
sound enough not to fall apart during the race.
|
(6)
|
No glass may be used.
|
(7)
|
Each outhouse must have a "name"; The name is to be displayed on
each side of the outhouse (also front and back display is allowed).
Sponsors names may be applied anywhere on the outside of the
outhouse.

|
TEAM:
|
(1)
|
A team shall consist of a maximum of five (5) people. One (1)
person must ride inside.
|
(2)
|
A helmet is recommended for all team members.
|
(3)
|
No rider under 12 years of age. No weight limit for rider.
|
(4)
|
A grasping device for rider to hold on to is permitted.
|
(5)
|
A team shall dress in like apparel. Each team and outhouse should
have a "theme" and dress accordingly. EXAMPLE: Hillbilly theme: bib
overalls, etc.; Western theme: cowboy hats, shirts, etc.; School of
your choice: T-shirts, football jerseys displaying name of school,
etc.

Each captain ( or designated person) is to carry a flag for their
outhouse during the parade.
*NOTE: Name
of Racer or Sponsors Name/Names should be pasted or painted on both
sides of Racer ( for identification).
|
*NOTE: All outhouse entries must abide by
the building code as stated in the Official Rules, unless all other
participating teams and the Race Directors agree to allow the Racer
in question, enter the race.
|
All participation in the race event is at each
persons own risk.

All entrants must sign a waiver to hold harmless
agreement at registration before they can participate in any events.
|
EVENT SCHEDULE:
|
(1)
|
All outhouses and teams are to be checked in by 10:00 a.m.
|
(2)
|
At approximately 10:30 AM inspection of outhouses will begin.
Judging of Awards. Failure to be in place for inspection will
result in possible disqualification.
|
(3)
|
Parade and introduction of outhouse teams will begin at
approximately 11:30 a.m.
|
(4)
|
Races begin at high noon.
|
(5)
|
Championship race will be held approximately at 5:00 PM.
|
(6)
|
Trophies and awards presented after championship race.
|
(7)
|
Keep record of your mileage to event. ( The LONG HAUL AWARD is
given to team traveling longest distance to be in Race. )

RACE:
|
(1)
|
Races are by elimination run in heats of 2 at a time.
|
(2)
|
Heat competitors will be determined by number drawing and placed
in brackets. Double elimination.
|
(3)
|
Race course is 300 feet.
|
(4)
|
The course will be divided into 2 lanes. No outhouse my go into
another's lane. If a collision occurs, both teams will return to the
start line and restart the race.

(5)
|
During the race the rider must be seated over the hole.
|
(6)
|
All outhouses are to be human-powered. No motors, bicycle-type
devices, etc. are allowed.
